Shogran is a beautiful hill station situated on a green plateau in the Kaghan Valley of Mansehra.
Shogran is situated at a height of 2,362 meters (7,749 ft) above sea level.
From Islamabad to Kiwai, it is about 226 km and takes around 4 hours to reach.
This road is fully metaled and okay for any car however the road from Kiwai to Shogran is narrow and steep.
It is only 7.4 km but at some points it is so narrow that two cars cannot pass at the same time.
This road is dangerous yet I have seen people coming in small vehicles, such as Cultus. We had to quickly place our Land Cruiser behind a Toyota corolla which was sliding down due to rainfall.
Unless you are a very experienced driver and have a four wheel drive it is not recommended to drive to Shogran by yourself.
It is better to rent a four wheel drive to go to Shogran and further up to Sri and Paye.Siri and Paye are only accessible in local jeeps from May to November.
One suggestion for people planning to drive, when you’re driving uphill, change down to a lower gear to avoid the engine struggling to give enough power.
Driving downhill, you can use a lower gear to increase the effect of engine braking and reduce the risk of overheating the brakes.
