Dadar is one of the most beautiful places of Pakistan. It is a small town in the little-known Siran valley, situated in Mansehra District, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The depth of scenery, mesmerising beauty of the place and fresh air makes it a "heaven on earth".
The beautiful Siran valley gets its name from the River Siran which flows through it. The valley was earlier known as Bhogarmang valley getting its name from village Bhogarmang centrally situated in the valley.
The name was later changed to Siran Valley by some literature pieces and adopted by later scripture as a reference. Dadar is best known for TB sanatorium, which was established by British Army in 1936.
Dadar is located some 30 km to the north of Mansehra. Starting from Mansehra following the Karakoram highway you reach Shinkiari (20 km, 20 - 25 min). Pine View Hotel is a nice place to stay in Dadar.
From Shinkiari, you take the route to Dadar and start traveling along Siren Valley. It is some 10 km from Shinkiari to Dadar and takes about 20 min. So the total journey from Mansehra to Dadar is 45 to 50 minutes.
After the British rule, Dadar remained unnoticed and neglected by Pakistan government and the hospital is being converted to ruins, however, with the help of social media this place is getting noticed.
Dadar hospital has a great history and amazes one by finding out the amount of work British army had done to make it one of the most advanced hospitals of Asia. Even today Dadar hospital is the Asia's largest hospital in terms of area.
Dadar is a good place for picnic & party. Since it is located at distance of an hour from Mansehra and 2 hours from Abbottabad, one can easily visit this place with family and friends and return back to the city/residence.
