Pattan Village – Lower Kohistan District - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Pattan is the capital of Lower Kohistan District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
Kohistan is a Persian word meaning “land of mountains” is an administrative district in the province of Khyber –Pakhtunkhwa.
Kohistan is where Karakorum, Hindukash and Himalayas meet making it one of the unique mountain ecosystems of the world.
Kohistan district consists of four Tehsils: Dassu, Pattan, Pallas and Kandia.
In 2014, the provincial government split Kohistan District into Upper Kohistan and Lower Kohistan.
At that time Lower Kohistan comprised two tehsils, Palas and Pattan; Pattan was the district capital.
With a mild and generally warm and temperate climate, Pattan features a humid subtropical climate (Cfa) under the Köppen climate classification.
