Bhit Khohri (or Khori) is a small rocky beach adjacent to Mubarak Goth or Mubarak Village, a fishing village in Kemari Town, Karachi.
It’s only 60 km (1 hour 45 minutes) away from the city center but to reach this place you need a powerful vehicle, perhaps a 4 x 4. The GPS coordinates are latitude 24.8603327, longitude 66.6634633.
In Balochi language ‘bhit’ means mountain and ‘khohri’ means a large fishing net. Bhit Khohri is one of the most beautiful beaches of Karachi.
The shore is shallow but becomes really deep as you swim away. As compared to other beaches, rocks in the water act as a natural barrier against the high tides.
This place is very peaceful and the water is crystal clear. Colorful shells, pearls and rocks make this beach even more beautiful.
The water and the sand has not yet lost its colour like the rest of industrialised Karachi beaches. It’s therefore a paradise for fun activities including fishing, swimming, snorkeling, etc.
Unfortunately, there are no basic amenities available at this beach. Ruins of abandoned huts tell a sad of story of some unfinished business.
This place is quite safe and secure as the locals guard the area and visitors stay here all night. Besides the activates of the sea, they cook food, enjoy bonfire and music.
The golden sand, crystal blue sea and the rhythm of the waves crashing at the shore is considered therapeutic, helps you clear your mind and think beyond the hustles of the city life.
Visitors may have a clear view of the famous Charna Island, which is exactly opposite to the beach at a distance of 6.5 km, an hour away on a boat.
